Laken's Research
Laken is a doctorate student at the University of Edinburgh, one of the top universities globally, pursuing a PhD in Sport, Physical Education, and Health Sciences. Her research is dedicated to understanding life skill development in sports for female athletes and then addressing how to transfer those skills to other life domains. Her mission is to empower women through sports, helping them develop the essential life skills that build confidence, resilience, and leadership—preparing them to become powerful, impactful leaders in the world.

"Development through sport has a long and varied history in sport psychology. Unfortunately, there appears to be an under-representation of females in sport psychology research, both generally and in this important area. Thus, it is fair to assume that female athletes are likely receiving
coaching, guidance, and psychological strategies focused on their development, but informed by evidence based primarily on males."
